Austin Pierce prevails for 7th NOSA win of 2014
By Mike Spieker
GRAND FORKS, ND (August 22) - Austin Pierce's breakout season continued Friday night at River Cities Speedway as the driver of the Opp Construction #2A pulled off yet another win at The Bullring.
Pierce then inherited the lead with Chris Shirek in tow. Once out front, Pierce opened up a sizable lead of his own. A caution with two laps remaining, however, erased that advantage.
"With the rain coming down (during the final restart), I thought it was going to be pretty slick. I didn't know if I dare go to the top in (turns) one and two in case it was slimy," said Pierce after the race. "but luckily (the track officials) let us run the track in for a few laps. I tried the bottom and middle and found a groove there so I knew if I had that, I could probably hold them off on the restart."
That's exactly what Pierce did as he never relinquished the lead on the green-white-checkered finish and parked his Outlaw Sprint Car in RydellCars.com Victory Lane for the fifth time this year, making it his seventh win overall.
