GLYNDON, MN (May 22) - A great field of 24 Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints packed the pits at Buffalo River Race Park to complete what was a three race weekend for many of the competitors. The four heat races were won by Jordan Adams, Mitch Mack, Lou Kennedy Jr., and Thomas Kennedy.
Ten laps in, Kennedy found himself in heavy lapped traffic, which allowed second-place running, Martin, and Nygaard to close in. Two laps later, Kennedy drove his machine too hard off the exit of turn two and slid off the banking. Martin followed right in his tire tracks, which allowed Nygaard to come away with the lead. Kennedy rejoined the field in second, while Martin was relegated back to sixth.
A caution with 12 to go set up a restart that would shuffle the runners up front. Both Nygaard and Kennedy were wheel to wheel as the green flag resumed the race and as they approached the front stretch, the two drivers made contact multiple times. The end result was severe damage to the left front of the #20K that left him limping into the first turn. Tom Egeland got collected in the incident as he could not avoid Kennedy.
Nygaard went on to lead the remainder of the event to claim his 254th career win. Casey Mack came home second with Lou Kennedy Jr., Bob Martin, and Mitch Mack rounding out the top five. A couple noteworthy runs were Chris Ranten’s charge from 22nd to eighth and Trent Stengl, who drove from 24th to 12th.
The NOSA Sprints will be back in action Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks!
