GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 28, 2017) – Austin Pierce took the lead of the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car feature on the opening lap as Wade Nygaard filed into second. However, the race was quickly slowed for a spin in turn four.
Nygaard ran the majority of the race relatively unchallenged until he was mired in lapped traffic with three laps to go. With lapped cars racing three wide for position ahead, Pierce was able to erase Nygaard’s advantage.
Pierce was able to pull even with Nygaard running the bottom side of the speedway with two laps to go. As the white flag flew, Nygaard took the line away from Pierce as he maneuvered around another lapped car. Pierce gave Nygaard one last charge as they headed into turn three, but Nygaard nailed the cushion off of turn four to take the checkers.
Pierce, Adams, Casey Mack and Kelly Miller rounded out the top five.
