GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 28, 2020) – The Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints were 17 cars strong for their 25-lap main event on Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Things got off to a rocky start as NOSA rookie Zach Omdahl got upside down on the opening lap. Omdahl was okay and a complete restart followed the red flag.
Pierce grabbed the lead again after a great battle with Croaker.
On lap five, the caution came out for a car off the banking, but just as it did, Croaker slid off the top of turn two, slammed hard into the back straightaway wall and got upside down. Croaker also walked away uninjured.
That moved Wade Nygaard into the second position for the ensuing restart.
Nobody had anything for Pierce, however. The two-time series champion dominated the remainder of the event to score his fifth win of the season.
“This is a brand new car we just put together this week. It’s working awesome… everything about it. My guys did a tremendous job all week in the shop. I can’t thank them enough. We were there every night this week until about 11 o’clock,” said Pierce of the work it took to get ready for Friday’s race after destroying his car the previous Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D. “I can’t thank my wife enough for allowing me to be out of the house so we can put this thing back together and be back in victory lane tonight.”
The win for Piece was the 32nd of his career, which ties him for fourth on the all-time NOSA wins list with Casey Mack.
“I never thought I’d get 20 wins in a Sprint Car, let alone 30 this year and now we’re at 32. Hopefully, we can get a few more before the year is over,” said Pierce.
