Greenbush Race Park Recap
By Mike Spieker
GREENBUSH, MN (July 4) - As the rest of the country celebrated our nation's independence Saturday night, the race teams of the Northern Outlaw Sprint Assocation were hard at work at Greenbush Race Park.
After a wild evening at River Cities Speedway the previous night, things were relatively mild for the series' first of two 2015 appearances at the 3/8th mile track.
Donovan Peterson, Austin Pierce, and Wade Nygaard all took heat race wins.
The 25 lap feature lineup was 22 cars strong with Greg Nikitenko and Blake Egeland leading the field to the green. Pierce found the fast line instantly as he powered by both Nikitenko and Egeland to assume the lead before the completion of lap one. Once out front, the defending NOSA champion never relinquished the top spot as he led wire to wire en route to his first victory of the season.
The win was also Pierce's first-ever at Greenbush and his eighth career NOSA-sanctioned win, which ties him with Thomas Kennedy for 12th on the all-time wins list.
Nygaard came home second followed by Casey Mack, Jade Hastings, and Blake Egeland. Tanner Wisk was the race's hard charger, coming from 22nd to 13th.
With 10 laps remaining in the main event, a huge pile up in turns three and four forced Tom Egeland, Jackson Moffett, Murray Temple, and Lawrence Veralrud to end the evening with a DNF. No drivers were injured in the incident.
NOSA will be back in action July 10th at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and July 11th at Devils Lake Speedway.
