Austin Pierce scores his first win of the season!
ADA, MN (July 21) - Norman County Raceway’s Thursday Night Thunder had a little extra rumble to it last week as the NOSA Outlaw Sprint Cars made their annual visit to the high-banked three-eighths mile oval. Austin Pierce topped the field of 22 410 cubic inch winged Sprint Cars for his first win of the year.
As the race resumed, Pierce pulled alongside Adams off of turn two and the two raced wheel to wheel down the back stretch. Pierce cleared the #20A of Adams to take the lead and quickly checked out from the rest of the field.
With five laps remaining, Adams’ strong run came to an end as he looped his machine to bring out the final caution. The beneficiary of the yellow was Cory Mack, who had to restart in 22nd after spinning out on lap three. Mack lined up right behind Pierce in second for the five lap dash to the finish.
As the race resumed, Mack took his Miracle Ear #25 topside and got a great run down the back straightaway. Mack then dove to the low side of turn three and completed a big time slide job to take the lead, but Pierce came back with a crossover to reclaim the point.
Pierce then ran four solid circuits around NCR to take the checkered flag; his first of the year and first at NCR. Cory Mack, Wade Nygaard, Casey Mack and Trent Stengl rounded out the top five.
