NOSA will be supporting these area races in June, July and August of this year.
Thomas Kennedy in Buffalo River Race Park Victory Lane
Glyndon MN July 28 2013: Thomas Kennedy claimed a coveted feature win in front of a full field of sprint cars, including the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions group, at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN on Sunday. The crowd on hand was thrilled to see a local NOSA driver take the win. Cory Mack, another NOSA sprint, also led laps and had a respectable 4th place finish. Kennedy was pleased to see that although track conditions rubbered down, there was more than one lane to pass, “it was rubbered down, top to bottom, which made it a lot easier to pass cars on the outside.” Kennedy considered the top 8 starters to be his biggest challengers in the race. He also noted that with the size of the track, lap traffic was an issue to contend with. Kennedy notes that part of his success is due to achieving a good balance in his cars setup this year, “we haven't really been changing a whole lot from race to race.” For Sunday’s race, Kennedy altered the stagger he ran for his heat race prior to the feature. The team also chose to use a medium RR for qualifying and the A main and then an H15RR for the heat race. Kennedy stated that Sunday nights’ win has been “my biggest accomplishment thus far.” However, Kennedy can also boast a win against World of Outlaws’ Donny Schatz in a June NOSA race at Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND.
Due in part to his success with the All Stars, Kennedy has decided to race in this weekend’s Knoxville 360 Nationals and has also entered the 410 Nationals. Kennedy also recognizes that his success is attributable to his grandparents, parents and brothers who help support his race team. He also thanked sponsors: KennedyFloorings, General Signs, Team Boss Blue, Shamrock Carpets and Forks Finest Auto Body Car Wash. Kennedy also praised the upgrades that have been made to the Buffalo River Race Park (BRRP) facility, a sentiment echoed by many NOSA drivers and fans this year.
The NOSA Outlaw Sprints will be featured this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. NOSA will be racing two A main features in order to make up a rain date from mid June. Grand Forks ND July 9 2013: Dry and hot weather has lead to dry slick race tracks prone to laying rubber during the heat of the 2013 NOSA race season. But the tracks are not the only places NOSA driver's will be burning rubber; NOSA has a full travel schedule for the month of July at several tracks across the upper Midwest, putting many of the drivers and crews on the road.
NOSA has had a strong car count at all of their in town and out of town races this year, with no less than 19 cars at any one race. NOSA has its regular Friday races scheduled throughout the month at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. The group will also be hosting shows at Devils Lake Speedway (Crary, ND), Jamestown (ND) Speedway, Buffalo River Race Park (Glyndon, MN) and finally a double feature event night at River Cities Speedway on August 2nd.
NOSA Sprint / Austin Pierce
June 24 2013 Grand Forks ND: NOSA Sprints' Austin Pierce will be defending his points lead this week as the team travels to Norman County Raceway (Ada, MN) on Thursday, June 27 and Greenbush Racepark (Greenbush, MN) Saturday. Pierce is holding the NOSA points lead for the first time since his sprint car racing career began in 2009. Several NOSA sanctioned races have been rained out this year, but Pierce is still getting laps in participating in other events. Pierce raced with the World of Outlaws over the weekend at Grand Forks' River Cities Speedway and I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN. "We didn't get the results we wanted," Pierce stated "I definitely used the weekend as a learning experience." However, qualifying for the A-Main with the Outlaws is a significant accomplishment, and one Pierce was able to achieve twice over the weekend. Pierce also raced in the sprint 410-360 race at Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD over the weekend. Pierce took the race lead on lap 3 and managed to maintain it until 2 laps remained, when he was passed by Jason Solwold for the win. Pierce has been using these opportunities to gain experience on the track. Gaining experience is just one of the reasons Pierce gives for his success this year. He recognizes the contributions and dedication his crew has been showing at the track and in the shop this year; "Each guy on my crew has taken on their own responsibilities. They make sure those get done each and every week." Pierce also understands the importance of being consistent with his performance. "Consistency is one of my main goals for this season, if you're not consistent, you can't make a run for a points title." Pierce is looking forward to racing at the some of the circuit's smaller tracks, including the rescheduled race at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN. That race has been rescheduled for July 7th. The NOSA Sprints will not be racing at Pierce's favorite track, River Cities Speedway, this Friday due to the Grand Forks County Fair. NOSA's Mark Dobmeier placed 6th during Friday's World of Outlaws stop in Grand Forks, ND and also captured the feature win at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday and a third place finish at Husset's Speedway. |
