GRAND FORKS, ND (August 28) - A field of 27 NOSA Sprint Cars made up the field for the 25 lap A-main to conclude Friday night’s program. Mark Dobmeier and Greg Nikitenko made up the front row with Dobmeier taking the lead as the race began.
On lap 13 Adams’ outstanding run took a turn for the worse as the Home of Economy #20A slid off the banking in turns three and four, bringing out the caution. By that time, Dobmeier had already lapped up to the 10th position so Adams rejoined the field as the last car on the lead lap in ninth. Adams would come home with an eighth place finish.
The race resumed and Dobmeier drove an error-free final 12 circuits around the Bullring to score his 128th career NOSA victory. Nygaard, Pierce, Ranten, and Casey Mack rounded out the top five.
“It seems like when I start on the pole something always happens that keeps us from winning,” said Dobmeier in victory lane. “I had a great car underneath me all night. We had that car railing right from the get go. I tell you what though, we have got a good class of Sprint Car drivers coming up in this area. We’ve got a bunch of new rookies and overall I think the future of Sprint Car racing is going to be huge here.”
