Dobmeier jumped out to the early lead as Pulkrabek was followed by Zach Omdahl at the end of the opening circuit. With just two laps in the books, Dobmeier started working lap traffic but continued to set his Torrid Pace out front.
With five laps in the books, Dobmeier saw himself in heavy traffic but continued to lead, putting a pair of lapped cars between himself and Pulkrabek. The track cleared, however, when a lap eight caution cleared the track for the leaders.
Dobmeier was again about to start working traffic when another caution slowed the pace two laps later. Another terrific restart saw Dobmeier continue to lead before he, for the third time, caught lap traffic in just two green flag laps which was followed by another caution.
At the midway point, Dobmeier was again in traffic as Pulkrabek tried to keep pace, but Dobmeier continued to show no signs of slowing as he made traffic work for him to keep his lead with 10 to go.
Heading into turn one with seven ago, Pulkrabek had erased Dobmeier's advantage when he took a look to Dobmeier’s inside, got loose and spun and brought out the second-to-last caution of the race.
Two laps later, Pulkrabek’s race ended when he hit a tractor tire on the inside of turn four. The final restart saw Dobmeier do what he did all race long, get a great restart and roar around the outside of traffic to continue on for his second victory of the year in NOSA competition over Zach and Nick Omdahl. Zach Omdahl’s finish was his career best with the series. Wade Nygaard and Blake Egeland rounded out the top five.
The feature on the second night saw Wade Nygaard in Shane Roemeling's Forks Finest Auto Body No. 31 earn the pole and Zach Omdahl line up on the outside pole following his fourth-straight heat win.
Nygaard took the lead at the start over Omdahl as Dobmeier moved from eighth to fifth on the opening lap. Dobmeier, Jack Croaker and Brenden Mullen battled for the fifth spot as Nygaard built his early lead.
Pulkrabek and Omdahl went side-by-side as they reeled Omdahl back in as the leaders started working traffic four laps into the race.
‘Throw a blanket’ as they say over second through fifth as both the Omdahl cousins joined Pulkrabek and Dobmeier in the battles for positions two through five.
On lap nine, Nygaard spun to a stop at turn three, giving up the lead to Pulkrabek. Pulkrabek was working traffic on lap 12 when Dobmeier caught him. Dobmeier completed a slide job off turn number four to take the lead.
Pulkrabek battled back to his inside, but the lead was Dobmeier’s as they continued to work traffic at the midway point.
With ten to go, a series of restarts tested Dobmeier's mettle again. But he passed them all with flying colors including the restart after the red flag for Blake Egeland who lost a right rear tire going into turn three. He exited the Engelstad Farms No. 26 okay.
The third and final caution of the stint saw Pulkrabek’s night come to an end when he went off of the third turn. This gave Jade Hastings one last opportunity to steal the win from Dobmeier. Hastings reeled him in in the closing laps but was never able to duck underneath the No. 13 for the lead as Dobmeier continued on to sweep the weekend.
Nick Omdahl, Brendan Mullen, and Alberta native Kelly Miller, who made his series debut back in 2017, completed the top five.
Racing action continues this weekend at a pair of South Dakota bullrings. The series will go head-to-head against the 410 arm of the MSTS series at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen on Friday and Casino Speedway in Watertown on Saturday.
