WEST FARGO, N.D. (July 18, 2020) – For the ninth time in Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA history, the series will make a visit to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. The wide, smooth, high-banked three-eighths mile oval has quickly become a fan favorite on the NOSA schedule since the series made their first visit to the speedway in 2012.
The NOSA Sprints then returned to Red River Valley in 2016 when Nick Skalicky and Jake and Sharnel Bikter reopened the facility. Thirty-three cars were checked in for action that night. Dusty Zomer topped the field and parked his Buffalo Wild Wings No. 82 in victory lane after a late-race slide job on Greg Nikitenko.
Since Kennedy’s dominance in 2012, there hasn’t been a repeat winner at the speedway. After Zomer’s win in 2016, Wade Nygaard was victorious in 2017, while Thomas Kennedy and Mark Dobmeier picked up wins in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Red River Valley Speedway has a long and great sprint car history. The track has played host to 32 World of Outlaws Sprint Car events, dating back to 1981. The Outlaws return to the speedway on August 22nd.
In the 1990s, the track hosted the WISSOTA Championship 360 Sprints, where future greats Donny Schatz and Wade Nygaard got their start.
The track’s first-ever race was a sprint car special during the Red River Valley Fair on August 18, 1967. A 27-year-old potato farmer by the name of Don Mack won that afternoon in front of 2,700 fans in attendance.
Tonight’s races at Red River Valley Speedway begin at 7:00pm. If you can’t make it, tune into DIRTVision.com to watch live.
