Dobmeier Makes Late Race Pass Over Kennedy For RCS Win #108
By Mike Spieker
GRAND FORKS, ND (June 12) - A field of 32 NOSA Sprints were signed into River Cities Speedway for another night of Premier Racing Series action at the Bullring.
The race continued and a fierce battle for the lead ensued between Kennedy, Wade Nygaard, and Mitch Mack. Kennedy and Nygaard swapped the lead back and forth as the fought for the tacky strip of clay on the low side of the speedway midway through the race.
Lurking back in the pack, however, was Mark Dobmeier, who seemed to just keep getting faster as the race went on. In just a matter of five laps, Dobmeier cruised from fourth to the lead as he rode the cushion and passed Kennedy. Once out front, Dobmeier never looked back and took his 108th RCS Sprint Car victory.
"It definitely wasn't an easy one," said Dobmeier after the win. "It was definitely one of the most fierce battles we've had here at River Cities Speedway. As we got into lapped traffic, everybody was on the bottom so I tried the top side. Luckily that high groove really came in toward the end of the race and I was able to slip by them."
Next week the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars invade River Cities Speedway. Dobmeier has taken down the Outlaws many times, most recently at Husets Speedway in Brandon, SD last July, but a WoO victory at the Bullring has been the one win that has eluded him.
"Our chance is as good as ever," continued Dobmeier. "We've got great equipment and our team is really jelling. We've taken down the Outlaws a few times, but to get it done at my home track is the goal in life."
