Thomas Kennedy sweeps Devils Lake Speedway features in 2014
CRARY, ND (July 12) - The NOSA Outlaw Sprint Cars had the fans on their feet for their four wide salute before the 20 car, 25 lap A-main. Once the race went green, Casey Mack grabbed the lead while Wade Nygaard, Austin Pierce and Thomas Kennedy gave chase.
Kennedy credited his recent success at Devils Lake to being fast around the high side of the speedway. "There wasn't really a cushion tonight, but there was enough there to zoom around everybody and park this #20K car in victory lane," said Kennedy after the race. "It took a lot of patience, just picking the right lines and waiting for the right moment to make the pass."
With three laps remaining, Kennedy had a very close call as he was attempting to lap Tom Egeland. Kennedy tried to squeeze between Egeland and the outside retaining wall on the front stretch and the two drivers banged wheels.
"When I came up high I thought, 'Please don't get any higher.', but he did and we tangled up a bit. After that I was a little bit shaken because I was like, 'Holy crap I didn't actually flip!' because I thought I was going to go for a wild ride."
Kennedy completed the season sweep at Devils Lake Speedway as he also took the May 31 win.
