For the sixth consecutive season, the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association will head to Dacotah Speedway in Mandan for the annual running of the Governor's Cup. The two-day show sets up the 12th and 13th events run by the series at the three-eighths mile oval.

Following a win for Lou Kennedy, Jr. in the series' debut at the track in 2011, the series has raced ten more features at the track, all of which have been during Governor's Cup weekend.

Wade Nygaard won the first two Governor's Cup championships while he and Mark Dobmeier, driver of the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13, split feature wins in the series' first two trips for the event in 2018 and 2019.

In 2020, Brendan Mullen, who was coming off his first series win just six days prior in Jamestown, won the opening night, while veteran Bobby Martin won the second night and the overall title.

Since then, Mullen, driver of the Native Nation's Cannabis No. 11M, has won the opening night three straight seasons, while Mark Dobmeier and Jade Hastings have won night two in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Last season, Dobmeier became the first Governor's Cup champion to not win either one of the main events.

Coming into the weekend, Jade Hastings, driver of the Ault Construction No. 8H, is the new series point leader and will carry a 19 point lead over Brendan Mullen and a 22 point lead over Mark Dobmeier into the weekend.

Nick Omdahl in the CMS No. 0 and Blake Egeland in the Engelstad Farms No. 26 complete the current top five.

Zach Omdahl is sixth in the Minn-Kota Power Co-op No. 17, with Jack Croaker eight with the Hugo's Family Marketplace eight-ball.

Tom Egeland is eighth in the Egeland Racing Engines No. 14, with Adam Sobolik ninth in the Evil Iron Classics No. 52. Austin Pierce rounds out the current top ten in the Opp Construction No. 2A.

lou kennedy sr., red river valley speedway, sprint car
All of us with the NOSA Sprints were saddened to hear the news of Lou Kennedy's passing on Tuesday.

Kennedy's importance to our sport is immeasurable. It's safe to say, if there was a 'Mount Rushmore' of Sprint Car racing in our area, that Kennedy would be on it. As one of the dominant forces when he was behind the wheel in the 1960's and 70's, Kennedy is still remembered today along with names like Don Mack, George Swangler, and Bucky Peterson.

Grand Forks, ND (February 18) - The 2014 season may not have been the best year Casey Mack has ever had, but the East Grand Forks, MN Sprint Car pilot still had a very successful season. Mack finished the year in the runner-up position in both the River Cities Speedway and NOSA Sprints point standings and recorded one feature win. That lone victory came on August 1st at River Cities and was Mack's 28th career NOSA win, which broke a tie with the great Brad Pake and put Mack in 4th place on the all-time NOSA Sprint Car wins list.

Mack now trails Lou Kennedy Jr., who sits 3rd with 51 career NOSA victories. The driver of the Bert's Truck Equipment #8 has now won at least one A-main in each of the last nine years and will look to make another charge for the NOSA Sprint Car Series championship in 2015.

A knee injury, however, has had the veteran Canadian driver sidelined for the better part of three months, but this Friday night, Kennedy Jr. will make his long awaited return to the wheel of his familiar #21K at River Cities Speedway for the NOSA season championship.

Grand Forks ND - Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) has completed it's first shows of the 2014 season with races at River Cities Speedway Friday, May 23.

Friday's show included double features in order to complete the May 16th opening night of racing that was cancelled due to poor track conditions. The first feature was won by Mark Dobmeier, after he captured the lead from Lou Kennedy Jr. Kennedy maintained the fastest lap time for the race of 10.921 seconds at 98.89mph.

The heat races of the night were won by Mitch Mack, Austin Pierce and Casey Mack. Chris Ranten was involved in a red flag accident in the second heat of the night.

The second feature was won by Wade Nygaard of Grand Forks. The race saw some controversy during a restart, leading to the black flag being thrown to Mark Dobmeier, resulting in a race disqualification.

NOSA's first out of town race, Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN, was cancelled after rain interrupted the first heat event.
