Casey Mack Tallies 1st Win of the Season.
GRAND FORKS, ND (August 1) - Casey Mack has been fast and up front all season long, but taking the checkered flag had eluded him until Friday night at River Cities Speedway.
"That first win of the year is always extra special," said Mack after the race. "It seems like once you get that first win, you really start rolling. We've been running really good the last three weeks and finally put it all together tonight."
Mack moved up through the pack fairly quickly, but waited for the right moment to seize Stengl and take the lead.
"When Trent (Stengl) has been running good, he's been having really good nights, but I was just running in second and taking my time. It was a 25 lap race and I knew it was going to take every lap to get it done."
Mack's win closed the gap between himself and Pierce in the point standings, but Pierce lessened the damaged with a solid third place finish.
"Austin's been having a really good season," Mack continued. "It's going to be really tough to catch him. There's not many races left after the World of Outlaws come (to River Cities). I think he's going to need to have some really bad luck and we aren't going to be able to have any."
