Dusty Zomer triumphs on Dobmeier's home turf
GRAND FORKS, ND (September 4) - The 25 lap NOSA A-main came down to a heavy weight match between two of the top 410 Sprint Car drivers in the Midwest. Mark Dobmeier of Grand Forks, ND and Dusty Zomer of Sioux Falls, SD put on their own version of a "Duel in the Dakotas" as they battled each other for nearly the entire duration of the main event.

Zomer momentarily took the lead away from Dobmeier on lap eight, but as soon as he did, the caution was displayed which put the Senske & Son #13 back in the lead for the Evergreen Insurance restart. Dobmeier took off on the restart and opened up another lengthy lead, but by lap 17, Zomer had chased him down and took over the top spot in heavy lapped traffic. Zomer then pulled out to a 10 car length lead, but then Dobmeier found his groove up on the cushion and began to reel him back in. Dobmeier had a full head of steam as the leaders crossed under the white flag, but a lapped car in front of Dobmeier bobbled and force Dobmeier to get on the binders. That's all Zomer needed to complete the final lap and pick up his first career RCS victory.
"I love this place. I've been here a couple times now in the Buffalo Wild Wings car and have had a lot of fun," said Zomer of River Cities Speedway. "Even though it was a Thursday night race we decided to come up and race because it's a fun place to race Mark (Dobmeier) and a lot of other really good competitors. I like the banking of the track. If a guy can around here well, he can get around a lot of short tracks across the country."
"(Dobmeier) was really good out in the open, but once I started hitting my marks and getting through traffic, I could slice-and-dice a little better than he could and I think that's what really set us apart. As good as the car was handling and with as much fun I was having, I could have gone 50 laps."
