GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 2, 2017) – Chris Ranten picked up his first career River Cities Speedway feature win Friday night at the bullring. The East Grand Forks, Minn. driver wheeled past Bob Martin on lap four before checking out from the field early on
After the lap 11 restart, Mack got a good run on Ranten heading into turn three. Mack hammered the cushion coming out of turn four and powered by Ranen to take the lead.
“All I was thinking was, ‘I don’t want to lose this one,’” said Ranten in RydellCars.com Victory Lane. “I just made sure I got a real straight launch off the corner on the restart because the lap before I washed up a little bit and spun my tires. That allowed Casey [Mack] to get a run on me.”
Mack’s lead was short-lived, however, as Ranten regained the lead after a lap 13 restart.
Once out front, Ranten pulled away from the field as the remainder of the feature ran caution free.
“[Getting this win] has been a money on my back for a long time,” Ranten said. “It’s so tough to win in Grand Forks. It just came down to drive tonight. I wanted to win in the worst way.”
Ranten went on to score the win, his first since Red River Valley Speedway in 2012.
Jordan Adams got upside down on lap 13 to bring out the red flag, but the Reynolds, ND driver was ok.
NOSA racing continues tonight at Devils Lake Speedway with a 7pm start time!
