Just two laps later, Jackson Moffett lost the right rear tire directly in front of the leaders. Dobmeier had contact with Moffett and spun towards the infield. In an attempt to keep the engine from stalling, Dobmeier kept his foot on the throttle and did five complete donuts before he regained control of his machine and took his place back atop the field.
Once the green was displayed, Dobmeier found his groove up on the cushion and drove off to his 114th career win at the Grand Forks bullring. Lou Kennedy Jr. came home second, while Jade Hastings drove all the way from 16th to third.
“I tell you what, that was definitely an action packed race. Hats off to the River Cities Speedway track crew, they had a real racy surface tonight,” said Dobmeier after the race. “There was a bottom groove and a top groove so it was tough to decide which lane to choose on the restart, but I’m a top guy so I stuck with the high side. Luckily I was able to start in different spots and surprise them a little bit and it all worked out.”
