The review was initiated internally by NOSA series officials only. The review was not initiated via protest by any driver, team, or any media (photo or video,) but to certify the entirety of the result, not just the finish for the win, but for every spot in the running order due to, at that point, the then potential error on lap 22.
It was then that the proper corrections to lap 22 were made, while it was also found that the scoring system, which automatically triggers the checkered flag at the conclusion of the race, placed the checkered flag between Mark Dobmeier and Jade Hastings' final passings of the scoring loop. Once the checkered flag was correctly placed before Dobmeier's final passing, the result showed a .049 second gap between Dobmeier and Hastings' final passings.
Please also note that 1. the flagstand is not the official end point of the race. The scoring loop buried underneath the front-straightaway, which is slightly behind the flag stand at the Speedway, is the official finish line for the race. 2. total time starts when the green flag is selected on the scoring software at the beginning of the race (every driver's total time starts at 0.000 at that point.) 3. There are no glitches in the River Cities Speedway scoring system. The system worked as it was supposed to, and allowed both series and track officials to confirm all results properly. 4. Series and Track officials met Thursday night and agreed on all recounting of the events that took place the previous Friday. 5. The closest finishes in River Cities Speedway history are Tyler Peterson over Dale Kraling in the Midwest Mod feature of the opening night of the 2014 Seitz memorial (.011), and Bobby Martin over Thomas Kennedy on July 30, 2010 (in Sprints; .043)
We never like to see things of this nature happen during any of our events, and we apologize to anyone who felt let down by any errors or subsequent corrections that were made.
Final results from Friday’s event have been posted, now that both the series and the track have made certain that all results, payouts, and points have been certified as correct and final.
