Season Championship Preview: Nygaard vs. Mack

GRAND FORKS, ND (Sept. 16) - A long, grueling points battle that began in late April has come down to one night at the Bullring. Tonight we crown the 2016 NOSA champion, but who that will be is yet to be determined. 

Coming into tonight, eight-time and defending series champion, Wade Nygaard has an 11 point lead over 2011 champion, Casey Mack. In order to secure the championship, regardless of what Mack does, Nygaard would have to finish 11th or better. The stats look to be in Nygaard’s favor too, considering he hasn’t finished worse than ninth in 2016 at River Cities Speedway. 

However, Mack has been awfully fast as of late and if it weren’t for mechanical issues at Buffalo River Race Park a few weekends back, this points race could have very well been a lot closer than what it is. Still Mack can’t be counted out to take the win tonight and put the pressure on the No. 9N team. 

2014 champion, Austin Pierce, also has a shot at the title tonight sitting 19 points behind Nygaard.
